Is Masturbation wrong? This is the question Christian singles & married couples ask me the most. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians10:31, “Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” Is thinking about Idris Elba or Kerry Washington in a sexual way bringing glory to God? Singles, I want you to know that masturbation can damage your future marriage.
If you’re practicing touching yourself on the regular it will stick with you after marriage, because anything we do over 21 days becomes a habit. Now you may think, “Well I’m not hurting anyone, catching a disease, or getting anyone pregnant by masturbating.” But you are practicing something that can replace your spouse when you marry, especially when they don’t feel like having sex.
Philippians 2:4 clearly states, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” How will you respond if your spouse doesn’t want sex as often as you do? Will you resort to your old habit of masturbating? If so, asking your spouse for sex eventually won’t be a priority anymore because pleasing yourself will have become comfortable and convenient. After all no one can please you like you, right? This is one of the reasons why it’s so important not to deny your spouse sex on a regular basis.
In Matthew 8:18 Jesus says, “So if your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away.” Jesus was addressing going to extremes to rid yourself of sins that hinder your walk with God, so if masturbating isn’t bringing God glory then why do it?
